Desperate Run

Wear

Posted by El Niño on April 18, 2006

This is probably my favorite section. Here I get to pontificate on what's good and what's not good for your body and feet. Along with the knowledge that I learn I would like to hear the reader's views on what they are using. Start the debate on which shoe is the best for whom or which type of clothing is good for what sort of weather. It may not make much of a difference at the beginning but as you progress as a runner it is very helpful to have the right gear at hand when you are sprinting that last mile to the finish line. What do you say? Ignorance is never a winner's friend.

Training

Posted by El Niño on April 18, 2006

Ah! This is where I will be documenting my training experiences as well as others who may wish to contribute. I find that a free flow of information especially during the early phases of training can really help a beginner feel confident to move forward. Too many times too many people, myself included, quit too early without seeing the sort of results we expect. Training with the right goals that are not too ambitious or not too relaxed is key to continued development and success. Hopefully, this will serve as a resource for training information on a regular basis.

Food & Health Category

Posted by El Niño on April 18, 2006

This category will be used to post information and discussion regarding running related health advice such as information on preventive care and injury related articles. I haven't heard of anybody reaching the top without a little blood mixed in the sweat. Also, there will be information and advice from members as well as myself on eating habits and creating the right mix of nutrients before, during and after training for the marathon. Not only will this create a more holistic approach but it will help people lead better lives just by eating right along with the exercise.

An introduction

Posted by El Niño on April 17, 2006

Just to provide a little introduction, this blog is about my quest to run the long race, the big one, the one that matters — the marathon! Stamina, endurance, pain, sweat, blood, failure, euphoria — it's a story in the making with an end that is not in sight yet. Everything from creating a program, eating habits, health effects, the dog attacks, the park rides, the running mates and wishful dreams will be explored and shared. Creating a runner from start to finish. That's my goal and everyone will help me do it! What's more all this information is available for you free and I hope everyone will share their experiences here as well.

It will also be a test blog from my WordPress CMS account. After a few days I'm thinking of investing in a WordPress blog with hosting… I'll keep everyone posted.

In addition there will be a section for my work in translating and porting programs and websites to Kannada (ಕನ್ನಡ). You may need to install "East Asian fonts along with Thai" support in your Windows to view the above text.
